Quick Start (Windows)

LSSD-VPN.ovpnDownload LSSD-VPN.ovpn file and save it somewhere that you can find later.

Download and Install OpenVPN Community Edition from https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/

    1. You probably want the Windows 64-bit MSI Installer

Open your start menu and type OpenVPN, and click the OpenVPN GUI program.

Find the OpenVPN GUI icon in your system tray (the collection of small icons in the lower-right corner of your screen, by the clock). The icon looks like a computer screen with a lock on it, and if you hover your mouse over it, it will say "OpenVPN GUI". An example is pictured to the right.



Right click the OpenVPN icon in the system tray (which you found in step 3), and choose Import file...


Find the .ovpn file that you were given by Living Sky ITdownloaded above, and click open.

You should see "File imported successful"

Right click the OpenVPN icon in the system tray (again), and you should see more options. Click Connect to connect your machine to the VPN.

You will be prompted for a username and password.

  • If you have a Living Sky account, sign in with your email address and password for that account. This is the same password you use to sign into your email account, or to sign into a school computer.
  • If you are not a Living Sky SD employee, a username and password will be provided to you.

Once connected, the OpenVPN icon should turn green. You are now connected, and can now access internal sites and services.
